We’ve all seen adventurers. We’ve admired them from afar. We’ve revelled in the glory and shared the heartbreak of failure with them. One of the most rewarding aspects is watching them progress from “wet behind the ears” newbies to virtually god like power and as humble spectators it is a spectacle to behold them dispatch their enemies with new, world changing abilities.
However, the increase in power is not celebrated by all. It would appear that some heroic adventurers don’t quite see the appeal of obtaining incredible levels of power or performing mind-blowing feats. We caught up with Lester Ringwyrm, bard extraordinaire who has been spent a whopping 6 months out in the field and
is now able to distort reality with his musical abilities.
It’s just a bit s**t really. Here we are, nearly half a year into our tenure as adventurers and we can pretty much do anything. My mate Eyegore can quite literally wrestle an elephant to the ground. I’ve f***ing seen him do it. Eblastor, our cleric, has literally become so powerful they are on a first name basis with their god. Hell, even Tediras, the monk has managed to transcend his physical form and is now made of pure energy. And what does all this mean when we get into a fight? Absolutely nothing. Sorry, no, that’s not quite correct, it means our fights take longer. Back when we were starting out, it was goblins galore. You couldn’t even go. to the toilet without encountering a gobbo or two. But now where are they? Barely any of the little s***s to be seen. And even when we do encounter one, it’s some ultra gobby b***ard that’s had so much necromantic energy piledrived up the backside that even my ability to literally control any sentient being with my music bounces right off them.
It’s not that I don’t appreciate all these wonderful abilities that we have been given, it’s just that they have no bearing on our journey. We’re walking around feeling invincible because compared to you, we are, and then boom, here’s a dragon that nobody has f***ing heard of until now that just so happens to have abilities to rival our own. It’s almost as if there is a powerful being out there playing some sick and twisted game with us in which, no matter how powerful we get, it will always be irrelevant.
I don’t know, perhaps I’m overthinking this but for once I would like to use these abilities against something normal so we can see just how powerful we have become…. What town did you say you were from again?
